New: 8-string Guitar in Trainer HD

Today, all editions of our Trainer HD apps have been updated to version 4.8, which includes a major new feature: the addition of the 8-string electric guitar as a new instrument!

More and more manufacturers are now offering 8-string guitars for sale, and we felt there was a growing need to have an app to help you learn its unique fretboard. We believe Trainer HD is the first iOS guitar app to actually do so!

This new instrument complements the existing instruments for 6-string guitar (electric and acoustic), 7-string electric and 12-string acoustic. This brings the total number of instruments available in the Trainer HD apps to eleven!

Like all instruments, this one comes with a few standard tunings, and you are also able to define your own custom tunings if needed.

Update your app today or get the free edition now to give it a try! The instrument can be fully unlocked through an in-app purchase, at the same price as the other guitars. If you bought all instruments previously, either as an in-app bundle or through our Complete Edition, then you'll get the new 8-string guitar for free after you update!

Valentine's Day Sale for Trainer HD

It's that time of year again! Would you like a little bit of help serenading your valentine this year ?

New Trainer HD Editions

As Christmas is right around the corner, we are pleased to announce the release of the last apps rounding up the various editions of our Trainer HD educational apps for musicians.

First, the Mandolin Edition has been released, joining other instrument-specific editions for Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and Banjo. Like these other editions, the Mandolin Edition is also priced at US$2.99, including the full mandolin instrument.

Secondly, we are happy to announce the release of the Complete Edition, which includes every single instrument in one convenient download. This will be more convenient for users with limited Internet access from their devices, as no in-app downloads or purchases are required to use any of the features.

Play Him Off, Keyboard Cat! version 3.0 for iOS

The first iPhone app put out on the App Store years ago by our team, way before Catloaf Software was formed, has just seen a major update.

First off, version 3.0 of the Keyboard Cat app is now completely free! It was previously being sold for US$0.99, but we realize that even that small price might have been too much to pay for an app that is starting to show its age.

To offset this, the app now includes a few banner ads on the video pages. Feel free to tap on them if you'd like to show your support.

Besides the change in the pricing model, the app has been updated to support the latest software, meaning it takes advantage of iOS 6 features such as integration with Facebook and Twitter to share your favorite videos.

Of course, this new version also takes advantage of the larger 4" screen on the new iPhone 5 and 5th-generation iPod touch! As a result of these changes, the minimum iOS version required to get the app is 4.3, so make sure you have updated your device accordingly.

As a side note: the integration with Facebook has also been simplified compared to previous versions of the app. We no longer have a corresponding Web app on Facebook, so the syncing function between the iPhone and Web version is no longer available and your list of favorites is now solely stored on your device.

The content included in the app continues to be updated regularly, and if you enable push notifications you will get notices whenever new Keyboard Cat videos have been selected for your viewing pleasure!
